Five P's Quick Check

Five questions. About a minute. A good hint at where to start.

Rate each statement from 1 (not at all) to 5 (absolutely). Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

Profit

I know my numbers and understand where my profit comes from.

Process

The work gets done the same good way, even when I'm not there.

Promotion

My marketing and sales bring in customers I can measure.

Priority

I know the few things that matter most this quarter.

UNPACK prep checklist

What to bring to your free one-hour UNPACK:

  • Your last 12 months of financials (P&L, and a balance sheet if you have one)
  • A rough org chart or list of who does what
  • Your goal for the next year, even if it's rough
  • The one problem that keeps you up at night
  • Any plans, checklists or marketing you already use
  • An open mind. Everything stays confidential.

The Pro Forma Path

A pro forma is a simple forecast. The path turns it into a habit of better decisions:

  1. 1Assumptions
  2. 2Model
  3. 3Target
  4. 4Actual
  5. 5Variance
  6. 6Decision

Write your assumptions, build the model, set a target, track the actual, study the variance, then make a decision. Repeat monthly.

90-Day Priority Reset worksheet

Work through these prompts once a quarter:

  1. What did we say we'd do last quarter, and what actually got done?
  2. What surprised us? What did we keep putting off, and why?
  3. Write down every project, idea and worry. Don't sort yet.
  4. Tag each item with one of the Five P's. Where does the pile build up?
  5. Which pillar, if it were stronger, would make the others easier?
  6. Pick no more than three priorities. For each: what 'done' looks like, who owns it, the first step.
  7. List what goes on the 'not yet' list, and tell the team.
  8. Put a check-in on the calendar every two weeks.
